Violet Green Beanie Hat Knitting Pattern for Aran/Worsted weight wool
This beanie hat pattern belongs to the Violet Green.

Needs: A 100g hank of aran weight wool; and a 40 cm circumference, 5mm circular needle.

To make the hat:

First, measure the circumference of the head you want to knit for. The following is a rough guide to sizes:

Size 1: 45 cm circumference, suitable for small child
Size 2: 51.5 cm circumference, suitable for medium adult or large child
Size 3: 58 cm circumference, suitable for large adult

Cast on 72 (84, 96) stitches over a 40 cm circumference, 5mm circular needle.

To make the hat:

Working in the round, work knit 1 purl 1 rib for 6 rows.

Continuing in stocking stitch (knit every round), increase 8 stitches approximately evenly over the next round. You should now have 80 (92, 104) stitches.

Continue working in stocking stitch until work measures 16 (20, 22) cms in depth, or until you achieve the hat depth you want.

Place a marker.

**Knit 2 stitches, then knit 2 together **; repeat from ** to ** until you reach the marker. You should now have 60 (72, 78) stitches.

**Knit 1 stitch, then knit 2 together **; repeat from ** to ** until you reach the marker. You should now have 40 (48, 52) stitches.

**Knit 2 stitches together **; repeat from ** to ** until you reach the marker. You should now have 20 (24, 26) stitches.

**Knit 2 stitches together **; repeat from ** to ** until you reach the marker. You should now have 10 (12 13) stitches.

Break the yarn with enough left to thread back through the remaining stitches, pull together, and secure.

Ready to wear!
