Please don't copy, but you're welcome to link to this page if you want to.Needs: Approximately 50g of 4ply Sock Yarn, Fingering Yarn or Opal/Trekking/Fortissima 4ply/sock weight wool; a set of double pointed 3mm needles, or one 40cm circumference 3mm circular needle
Sizes: small, medium, large.
Using a 3mm diameter 40cm length circular needle (or double pointed 3mm needles), and 4ply/sock weight wool, cast on 128 (144, 160).
Work one round in purl.
Then continue in the following pattern:
- Round 1 - Knit 1 round.
- Round 2 - ** k2tog twice; knit 2; Bring yarn forward and knit 1 stitch (making a stitch), 4 times; knit 2; K2tog twice; ** Repeat from ** to ** until the end of the round.
- Round 3 - Knit 1 round.
- Round 4 - Knit 1 round.
Continue in this pattern until the hat is the depth you want it to be, or approximately 16 (21, 23) cms. Then work the crown decrease in stocking stitch, as follows:
**Knit 2 stitches, then knit 2 together **; repeat from ** to ** until you reach the marker.
Knit 1 round.
**Knit 1 stitch, then knit 2 together **; repeat from ** to ** until you reach the marker.
Knit 1 round.
**Knit 2 stitches together **; repeat from ** to ** until you reach the marker. Repeat this round until 8 (9, 10) stitches remain.
Break the yarn with enough left to thread back through the remaining stitches, pull together, and secure.
Ready to wear!
